In spite of what Tri-city news would have you believe
Asbury Park is NOT... I repeat NOT
An "artsy place"
A bastion of creativity
I have described it before as a
"purgatory for pretentious pretenders"
Since I have been here eleven galleries have come and gone. Magin' dat'
For some time I have been waiting for an even dozen.
Wasn't sure who would be next. I thought BTII was a likely candidate.
Then along came PALETTE across the street from Parlor.
It all began with Ruben Ramirez and Rubens World on the same side of Cookman as Parlor. He showed photos. He moved across the street to a bigger space then disappeared. His space became KISS MY ART
run by a super flake who was never there.
When he left it became PALETTE. Eventually being run by someone named Borzatta.
The other day I rode by and there was a sign in the window
that sed: VINTAGE SUBS Hmmm...!!! I thought, let me check this out. Vintage Subs had been on the N. side of Cookman.
I rode around the block and looked again. Vintage subs had taken over half the space. The other side was still
Palette Gallery
Not an even dozen (Eleven & a half) but close.
The Capt predicts that it is only a matter of time till Palette is gone. Anybody want to bet?
Somebody go ask Dan Jacobs an ex lawyer why does he think this is such an artsy place why there is so little real support.
Dan why do so many galleries come and go?
