I was in Amsterdam in the winter of 80/81

I was staying in the attic of Bob's Youth Hostel.

 

The buildings are tall and skinny so the stairs run along the wall.

 

At the bottom of the stairs of the top floor I put a sign that sed:

 

NO WIMMEN ALLOWED

 

Wasn't but ten minutes when a militant young feminist came up the stairs and demanded to know why wimmen were not allowed up here, she sed;

 

...there's nothing up here...!!

 

I replied;

 

...I'm up here.

 

She went back down the steps
