founded by Gen. Harrison Otis Grey of the Los Angeles times.  It was located next to McArthur Park in L.A.  It is now the Charles White school named after a former instructor.

I began there in 1969.  Going into my second years I spoke with my instructor (George DeGroat?) and told him if at anytime he felt I wasn't doing it he should say something to me.

At the end of the year I was informed that I would not be allowed to proceed to a masters degree but I could get a three year BFA.

Why not?  Didn't think I was MFA material.  Didn't have talent? Would make Otis look bad? Nobody ever sed.

Proved them seriously wrong that's why they stone wall me to this day.

THE OTIS JOKE

This originated with Nelly Chouinard Inst, the other art school nearby.  Became Cal Arts.

Frist day, first class, first lesson.  One out of ten, you are told, are the real artist.  The other nine are there to keep the doors open.  The joke is..and as soon as we identify who they are we'll get rid of them so your parents don't feel bad wasting money on your education.

Anyway another woman suffered the same fate.  She will re-main nameless for good reasons.  

Un-like me she had made enuff money before leaving art school to buy a two story building on York Blvd in Highland Park. This was what I was up against from the very beginning.

I stopped by her studio one time.  She had a large 8 x 10 ft canvas leaning against a wall.  She was in her mud stripe phaze.  Rumor had it she mixed acrylics with mayonaise.

In the upper left of the canvas was a square sectioned off.  The colors were different.  She claimed her assistant did it but she ....didn't know about it , wasn't sure,

Assistant? Such bullshit.

Fast Forward almost fifty years.  I Google her name.  Her web page comes up. It was poorly done.  Should have been a clue.

Her resume' is impressive.  According to it Otis hired her two years after kicking her out.  That needs looking into.  What could she teach?  She can niether paint or draw. Back in the day I would have no trouble duplicating anything she did.  She couldn't make something look like something if her life depended upon it.

She is collected by major corporations on various continents and in some permanent museum collections.  Very impressive.

Every man hating fem nazi will come hissing and spitting out of the bushes saying your jealous of her fame and

fortune.

First off I am by far and away better known than her.  She has no imagination, talent, sense of design and composition.  Doesn't know anything about color harmony.  Her message is I am hiding the fact that that I can niether paint or draw by calling it abstract.

She sed she changed from realism to abstraction and became aware of light and space.

The only light space is between her ears.

Her fortune is her building.  She doesn't have it.  it has her.

It's an anchor on her ass, that's why she is still there

I traveled far and wide and had many experiences. There were a lot of hard, hard times. Would I trade places with her?

She has gone on line.  This is a company that shows how your art will look in a room, presumably to promote sales.

She is in 540 collections world wide.  Five permanent museum collections.  My, my, my impressive.

Lucky you she has slashed the price on her original paint on paper from her usual $3,500 to $2,900.  A savings of $1,600 dollars that you can snap up now in this time of record un-employment, before someone else gets it.

To rich for your blood?  You can get a framed print for $84.97 Loose prints, canvas and even a mug, and be able to enjoy her work on the cheap.  Now she has come down to my level and below LOL
