....in desperate times, desperate people
do desperate things
There are many people who were desperate before the pandemic. They are more desperate than ever.
The longer this lasts the worse it will get.
BEWARE....!!
Early last week in the afternoon I was sitting by the window when suddenly there was a loud banging on the door. That was red flag #1. They weren't knocking. They were banging.
Who is it? Someone sed. it's me. I just got out of jail. I got cigarettes and candy. Open the door.
Three red flags in a row. Failure to identify, a bribe and a command.
I went to the door and put the chain on. Then again asked him to identify yourself. Again he did not identify himself and repeated the bribe and the command and added he was looking for John.
No John here. If you don't leave I'll call security. He banged some more. I peeked out the peep hole but all I could see was a silhouette.
I went and sat down and called the guard. He didn't answer. I found out later I had the wrong number. Not knowing the local police # I dialed 911. The operator tried to convince me it was the security guard. When I convinced him it was not he sent the police.
After another ten mins. the intruder left. I get a call from the lobby. It's the intruder who is looking for a
John Trovoto.
Nobody here by that name, the police are coming, you should leave. He thanked me for my help and hung up.
The police show up. I crack the door. I'm in self quarantine so don't come in. They had masks on and stood six feet from the door.
I told them what happened and the guard should have it on video, they left.
The next day I told the office. When I mentioned the name the response was they might have known the person. It was determined that the person was not from the building and probably had the wrong apt.
IT COULD EASILY GONE THE OTHER WAY.
If I had gone for the bait and obeyed the command there would be no way I could keep them out. Once in they could take food, money and injure me.
BEWARE...!!!
Some people view old folks as easy targets.
KNOW WHO YOU LET IN
