WHAT'S BEAUTY ?
Beauty is in the "eye" of the beholder which translates into "seeing" being a subjective experience.
We see what we want to see which is not suprising because we believe what we want to believe.
Is there such a thing as objective beauty?
For years I have done portraits and qwick sketches. I have studied facial features intensly. I believe that beauty is a matter of relative porportions.
An arraingement on one face does not work on another.
What is the difference between noise and music? It's the same as the difference between chaos and harmony.
It's called organization. Ever hear of that?
Somehow when elements are arrainged in a certain manner (Balanced ?) there is a sense of being pleased. I like that.
The elements "harmonize". Whether it be sound, visual, taste, feel, etc
Not all arraingements are equally pleasing to everyone because everyone is looking thru a personal filter.
Upon finishing a portrait sometimes people would ask, ...does that look like me?
The answer to that question is, it depends on who you ask and when and how you ask it.
What one person observes in dim light and under the influence of alcohol in front of friends might be different from what they see a week later, alone in a different light.
Even that varies so much that everytime you look at something you get a different view depending on the mood of the observer.
Their is no such things as an objective view, but there is something called a consenus of opinion. Imagine that.
Many would agree that Sophia Lauren was a beautiful woman. Me 2
