INSULT

A return to one of my favorite subjects.

EGO GAMES N' POWER TRIPS

How do you add insult to injury?

You make someone wait a long time then pull the rug out from under them by telling them "no".

Ever have to wait six months for someone to help you by making a five minute phone.

They were busy.  Why were they busy?  Because you needed something. I've made people busy for years this way.

Remember this truth;  We're as busy as we want to be.

Once there was a young boy who did a drawing.  The drawing represented an advancement for him.  He was proud of it.  So proud he took it to the kitchen
to show his mother who was washing dishes.

Now there are three possible scenarios here;

Mom stops what's she's doing.  Looks at it.  Tells him it is so good she wants to hang it on the refrigerator.
Positive re-inforcement.  The boy beams with pride.

Another scenario is mom sez, I don't want to see it.

Rejection is such a nut.  Not a way to build self esteem and pride in a developing ego.  But that is not as bad as the third alternative.  A no is at least an answer.  There's no waiting around involved.

Mom could have sed;  Not now.  this is called an open ended waiting game.  It is a set up.

Now the boy waits. Making someone wait is a power trip in and of itself.  Power trips are based in in-adequacy.  It is a long slow death.
Cruel punishment.

What's a set up?  They need to make an appointment
before they can stand you up.  They have to hire you before they can fire you.  I've had that happen more than once.

Not returning phone calls and e-mails is the same game.  The message is they're more important than
you
because you have nothing to do with your precious time other than to wait for them.

It's a form of degradation.  The need to do it is an expression of weakness.

The power of denial is a tool of the in-adequate.
