OLD FOLKS

Once there was an old, lone eccentric.  He would travel on a raft in the rivers of Alaska.

He would go for long periods of time with out seeing another human being.

One day he was traveling down a river when suddenly next to him appeared another raft.  This was so unusal it freaked him out.  An old woman was at the helm.

He couldn't believe what he saw.  Just then they came to an island in the river.  He went left.  She went right.  When he got to the other side he could see her far behind but soon lost site of her all together.

That night when he made camp he was still blown away by the experience.

He had traveled the rivers for years and rarely came across someone else let alone an old lady on a raft.
He just couldn't believe it.

Suddenly she appeared down the river.  She got closer and closer.  He was use to being alone and didn't want her to stop, but she did.

He reluctantly shared a meal with her, then went to sleep.  When he woke in the morning she was gone.  He was happy.  He wasn't used to talking to people...let alone ...a woman.

Late in the day he came around a bend.  Her raft had hit a rock and broke up.  She was sitting on the bank, cold, wet and shivering.

He pulled over and went ashore.  He built a fire and gave her some hot soup.  It didn't seem to help.  She was still shivering violently.  So he crawled into his sleeping bag with her and warmed her with the heat of his body.  She shivered a long time, but eventually stopped.  They fell asleep

When he awoke in the morning she had a fire going and had made coffee.  She offered some to him.  He said thanks.  She smiled.

They left together
