QUEENS

Been following the news lately.  Heard about the Ceciel Hotel in Los Angeles.

Seems a Canadian tourist who was staying there ended up dead in the water tank on the roof.

Maybe was there for two weeks.  The tenants, drank, bathed and brushed there teeth in water that had low pressure and tasted funny for two weeks.  Magin' dat.

What's the connection...the Ceciel Hotel. Before I went to Europe in 1980 I had been driving cab at night in Los Angeles.  Then there were thirty to fifty hookers working the streets at night.

When I returned in the early 80's there were three
to five hundred.  Every night of the week all we ever did was run whores this way and that way.

If you don't know L.A. the skinny is that the action is not in downtown L.A. but in Hollywood. Hollywood Blvd. is for the tourist.  See and be seen.

Sunset blvd was for the whores.  Santa Monica was for the male whores.  The driver called it, "bend over blvd."

Nobody who knew L.A. stayed in the downtown area.  That was for Mexican's and derelicts. The only people who stayed dowtown where people from out of town that didn't know better.  They thought the action was in the center of the city.  Wrong.  It was Hollywood and out along the Sunset strip, think Wiskey a go-go.

Back in the 80's the Ceciel was a down and out flea bag flop house.  I use to pick up a couple there.

They were from Baltimore and had come to L.A. to cash in.  He looked straight but the other one was what we called a super swish queen.

They survivved because he was pimpng her out.  I'd caught them once or twice a week for about a month.

Then one time I caught just him.  She had disappeared.  I don't remember how the conversation got started but he asked me...

...didn't you ever meet a man who made your dick hard.?.!!

I replied;  In all honesty, frankly...no...not even a little bit

A couple of weeks later I caught her on a corner on the stroll.  She said if I saw him, tell him I've been kidnapped.

Never saw either one of them again.

This shot was taken on the same street as the Ceciel, on Main St. Maybe three or four blocks south of it.
